A slightly longer October message from me as I want to remind you about our next monthly meeting and the Christmas Lunch.

If you have never, or rarely, attended one of our monthly meetings may I suggest that our next meeting on Thursday 22nd October (2pm at the Baptist Church) will be a very interesting and unusual one to try. There is a theme of drinks - not all alcoholic!

Our main speaker will be Jane Glennie, an actor and historian. She will be presenting "How Do You Take Yours" which explores the history, etiquette and superstitions about tea. As Jane is an actor, this will not just be a presentation but a performance. I am really quite excited about seeing Jane's performance and I hope you will be too. 

To add to the fun, our after tea speaker, our very own Alan Borrow, will continue the drink theme by featuring ten trips abroad that Wine Group One made between 2009 and 2018. "Europe though a wine glass" will not just cover wine, but also highlight the attractions of the ten areas that they visited, including information that may make you next trip abroad more fulfilling.

Refreshments will be kindly provided by the Science and Technology Group.

It promises to be an interesting afternoon and it would be really gratifiying to see a packed auditorium.

I would also like to remind you that the deadline for signing up for the Christmas lunch is fast approaching at Saturday 17th October.
