Our group meets on 1st Thursday at 2 pm each month in St James Parish Hall, Church Path
The aim is a (not too serious) forum on Science, Engineering Technology. We will have a very wide scope. Examples include: Space Exploration, Global Warming, Physics, Chemistry, Medical Science, Electronic Systems and Green Technology.
We strongly encourage Talks by Group members or Discussions, with volunteers to lead the discussion. Talks from external speakers are also arranged. There is a surprising range and depth of experience in Science, Medical Science, Engineering and Technology within the group. Already a healthy number of talks has been volunteered! We look forward to some fascinating afternoons.
Our workshop sessions have been very popular so far – the idea being that we choose a subject about which most of us know very little. We will then go away and do some personal reading and research and then come back, with everyone joining in the discussion. Perhaps this is moving toward the true spirit of u3a?
You don’t need to have a background in science or technology to enjoy this group, we look at each topic in a down-to earth way and focus on the practical impact on our everyday lives.
Finally, social interaction and chats about almost anything are encouraged – we are here for the company and to enjoy ourselves!
New members are assured of a warm welcome by this enthusiastic and friendly group.
