Kitchen tips for the tea team

Some tips for using the Baptist Church kitchen during u3a General meetings

  • Lift the shutters by unlocking them with the inserted key and use the long pole to push them up (stored nearby) – or ask the caretaker!
  • Check the hot water urn is ON – it will indicate when water is hot enough
  • Put out at least 60-80 white mugs on the serving counter (they are stored on trays underneath the counter)
  • Suggest you put mugs for coffee plus milk and biscuits on a separate counter
  • Jugs for milk are usually stored on the right of the urn with the tea pots
  • Bowls for sugar and plates for biscuits are stored in same place as mugs
  • Andrea Brokenshire usually brings tea, coffee, milk & biscuits.
If you feel there are insufficient supplies of any item, please contact Andrea or any other committee member.
PLEASE DO NOT buy further supplies without authority from the committee.
  • About 5 tea bags in the large tea pots is usually enough when tea pot is full (you may need to add more if necessary)
  • Suggest kettle is boiled for coffee and placed on counter for use by helpers
  • Fill the tea pots from the urn –warning - once full they are very heavy
  • The dishwasher, which has a quick wash cycle, is under/close to the sink.
  • Tablets are in the cupboard under the sink.
  • Mugs may be washed by hand, but check you have enough tea towels for drying
  • Once clean, mugs and bowls should be put away under the serving counter, on the trays.
  • Clean tea pots and jugs should be replaced to the right of the urn
  • Any biscuits left over should be placed in the tin provided. Any unused sugar replaced in the bags
  • Switch off the urn and roll down the shutters before leaving the kitchen
