WINE APPRECIATION ONE

This group was formed as one of the first interest groups when Ems Valley U3A started in 2006!

 We meet once a month on the third Tuesday of the month at 3.15pm in St James' Parish Church, and we taste 6 wines, normally 3 red and 3 white.

From 2009 to 2018 we travelled abroad to Wine regions in Europe, during the month of June. Our last wine visit was to Northern Italy in June 2018. These visits gave us a great insight into old world wines as well as very varied sightseeing entertainment!

We have a wine tasting barbecue in July, and a wine tasting Gourmet Dinner in January or February. We have a total membership of about 50 and at any one tasting we average 35 members. 

We operate on a 12 month term subscription basis, to include all monthly tasting wines for the year. Renewal time is January. (current sub is £45.00 for the year)

The Barbecue and Wine Tasting dinners are charged separately.

The group is now led by Geoff Wiggins, David Milne and Trevor Smith. These three have taken over from Alan Borrow who did a amazing job over the 20 years of running this group since its inception.
